What are thyroid disorders?
The gland releases thyroid hormones, which move via circulation to reach the body’s cells. They support the regulation of various bodily processes, including bone growth and structure, puberty, and sexual development.
Is it possible to reverse thyroid disorders?
Thyroid disorders are a group of diseases that occur due to a poorly functioning thyroid gland.
- Thyroid cancer – When the cells in your thyroid gland start multiplying abnormally, it gives rise to thyroid cancer.
- Hypothyroidism – When there is insufficient production of thyroid hormone, it causes hypothyroidism. One of the causes of hypothyroidism is Hashimoto’s thyroiditis where the thyroid gland fails to produce enough thyroid hormones because of a self-reactive immune system.
- Hyperthyroidism – When a hyperactive thyroid gland overproduces the thyroid hormone, it gives rise to hyperthyroidism.
- Goiter – A bulge under the skin at the front of the neck indicates an enlarged thyroid gland. When the bulge is large enough to be seen, it is called goiter.
